🌈 Our Story | From Peru to Ireland
A little piece of Peru, with a home in Ireland.
Happy Llama began with a simple idea: to bring the warmth, colour and craftsmanship of Peru into everyday life in Ireland.
But behind that idea is a much more personal story.
After a time of loss and change, I found myself beginning a new chapter of my life in Ireland.
During a trip to Cusco — a place filled with memories from my childhood — something began to change. Surrounded by colour, textiles, artisan markets and the warmth of the people, I reconnected with a part of Peru — and a part of myself — that I thought I had lost.
In that moment, I realised that Peru was more than a place I returned to. It was something I carried with me. I wanted to bring some of that colour, warmth and feeling back to Ireland, and share it with others.
That feeling became the beginning of Happy Llama.
Ireland became part of my story through love. It was here that I built a new life with my husband, Niall, who is now also part of the Happy Llama journey.
Through him, Ireland became more than the place where I lived — it became another place I could call home.
Being far from Peru made me think differently about home, identity and the little things that keep us connected to where we come from.
Through that journey, I realised something that became the heart of Happy Llama:
We carry our home within us.
Happy Llama became my way of creating a bridge between my two homes: Peru and Ireland.
Today, that bridge continues to grow. Together, Niall and I are building Happy Llama in Galway, sharing a little piece of Peru with the place we now call home.
🦙 More than an alpaca
Every Happy Llama has its own little character.
Because our alpaca pieces are handmade, natural variations in colour, texture and expression make each one beautifully unique.
Some celebrate the colours and traditions of Peru. Others are inspired by Ireland and the places and stories that have become part of our journey here.
They are created to become meaningful gifts, keepsakes and little reminders of a place, person or memory.
No two stories are exactly alike — and neither are our llamas.

Our collections celebrate the connection between two cultures.
We work with skilled artisans in Peru, selecting pieces created with natural alpaca fibre and traditional craftsmanship.
Once they arrive in Ireland, selected Happy Llama pieces are carefully styled and finished in Galway, where we add the details that make our collections distinctly ours.
From our colourful Peruvian-inspired pieces to our Irish Collection, each one carries a little part of the journey from Peru to Ireland.

We love working with it not only because of how it feels, but because it connects our products directly to the landscapes, craftsmanship and textile traditions of the Andes.
